IGT and MGM Springfield Debut First Wide-Area Progressive Slots in Massachusetts

IGT and MGM Springfield have introduced the first wide-area progressive jackpot slot machines in Massachusetts, marking a significant milestone for gaming in the state. The partnership brings 20 Wheel of Fortune-branded slot games to the Springfield casino floor, with jackpots that reset at levels as high as $1.125 million.

Wide-area progressive games link machines across a network, allowing jackpots to grow rapidly as players across multiple terminals contribute to a shared prize pool. The format is widely popular in other major gaming markets and has long been absent from Massachusetts, making this launch a notable expansion of the state's casino offerings.

MGM Springfield, one of the flagship commercial casinos in Massachusetts, is positioned as the launch venue for the new product. The launch reflects broader momentum in the Massachusetts gaming market, which has matured steadily since commercial casinos were authorized in the state. Offering progressive jackpot products at competitive reset values could enhance MGM Springfield's ability to attract regional visitors who might otherwise travel to gaming destinations in neighboring states.
